“Our name will be forgotten
In time
No one will remember our work
Our life will pass like the traces of a cloud
And be scattered like
Mist that is chased by the
Rays of the sun
For our time is the passing of a shadow
And our lives will run like
Sparks through the stubble.

I place a delphinium, Blue, upon your grave.”

(Derek Jarman, Excerpt from Blue )

  1. This sounds like white noise in my ears and eyes, like someone calling or shouting from the distance, but the moving air has taken it somewhere in between…
or kind of talking backwards in one of David Lynchs movies, but anyway, there has been a message.

  2. Time, such an unpredictable and floating thing in life, that refuses to be captured. Only a brief moment of our perception of it can be saved like some kind of mirror image of it all. Love this post!

  3. The wisdom of Solomon as used by the wonderful Mr Jarman.

The darkness comes in with the tide
The year slips on the calendar
    Your kiss flares
A match struck in the night
    Flares and dies
    My slumber broken
    Kiss me again
    Kiss me
    Kiss me again
    And again
    Never enough
    Greedy lips
    Speedwell eyes
    Blue skies

I envy your sensitivity to text and visual language

  4. true or fact? One or the other, you are correct. Nothing make sense unless you give one to your life, this life, the one you live right now. Its a fact.

  5. Absolutely wonderful words, my dear, so true, and your images go so well with them. I’m a geologist and, to me, in the vastness of geological time, our lives are like the blinking of an eyelid. As always, I hope all three of you are happy and well. Adrian 🙂

  6. another so beautiful post of yours, I love both Derek Jarman’s films and writings, thank you for reminding me, and your images fit perfectly…
