«What must I be, I who think and who am my thought, in order to be what I do not think, in order for my thought to be what I am not? What is this being, then, that shimmers and, as it were, glitters in the opening of the cogito, yet is not sovereignly given in it or by it? What, then, is the connection, the difficult link, between being and thought?»

(Foucault, Order of Things)

  1. good that there is such a tension between being mentally and being physically. That is what drives us being someone for the time being present. Very good work to look at. The confusion to capture it, I like . The geometry of that composition is the guidance to trigger that impression too .

  2. I’m very moved by this beautiful post… Wonderful and thoughtful in both self portrait and text.

    I found this quote:
Finding the center of strength within ourselves is in the long run the best contribution we can make to our fellow men. … One person with indigenous inner strength exercises a great calming effect on panic among people around him. This is what our society needs — not new ideas and inventions; important as these are, and not geniuses and supermen, but persons who can “be”, that is, persons who have a center of strength within themselves. (Rollo May, Man’s Search for Himself)

    • Dear Malin, thank you so much again and again!!…and I am so glad that it moved you…(…smiling and smiling…)…
…and thank you for this text, very enlightening… yes, I always believe that, start with the self, with the “be”…then everything else takes its place too… I remember a quote from Anais Nin, only by heart…it goes something like that… We have been to the moon, not much! – there is still a long road to find ourselves.. (…smiling again…)
