« It’s not where you take things from – it’s where you take them to«

« Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery – celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said : « It’s not where you take things from-it’s where you take them to« .

  1. Quote approved by my wandering soul.

And maybe you’ve stolen some art food here and there…
But if so, you’ve done the right move!
You have taken things to great places in only a year!

I like your art and seing how it has evolved.
And all these quotes are very inspiring to me.

    Bye Karina

    • Thank you so much, Benoît! Your words are like a fresh breeze to me…
It´s difficult to choose things to post, many can´t be in here, belongs to other places. The art of what to show its an exercise in it self…I am still a work in process…
Thank you again, “wandering soul”!… (…smiling…)

      • You’re a work in process? Beauty and deepness can be stationary or moving; it doesn’t change their very own nature.

But I’m not sure if I correctly structured my previous sentence. I was surely not implying a plain theft of other art or lack of originality… 🙂 It was just a reference to the quote above. My english sometimes plays tricks on me…
…but, you’re right, a blog is not always the right medium for all situations. I sometimes sculpt and I must say it belongs to the physical world. So I understand a little what you say.

        Bye Karina!
And keep moving… I’ll be there to witness the work in process…
…or pause, of course… art has the right to sleep sometimes also! And I really like your smiles between parentheses over round yellow cartoonish creatures that look nothing like a smile to me! So: (…smiling…)
